Birthday Cards

Hi Everyone!

I have been sitting here working on an accordion card that I will share with you some other time.  I have just decided that I am crazy, completely crazy.  I have been setting unrealistic goals for myself that create stress and pressure that I do not need or want.  I won't bother going into details.  Just by putting that in print I have released some of the stress I have been feeling lately.

Before I head off to bed I will share a few of the birthday cards I have created recently.  Here's the first one.

Hmm, there's a pink tint to that photograph that isn't a true reflection of the card.  The tag that the flowers and sentiment are stamped on are white, not pink.  I rediscovered how relaxing it is for me to watercolor with my distress ink pads.  You cannot tell by the photograph but I brushed a coat of clear wink of stella over the watercolor in each of the vases.  It made them sparkle and added a nice touch to the card.

I found the cake sticker on this card in the clearance section at Michaels.  It was made by K&Company and came with 2 other stickers.  You pull on the little tab along the side of it and the flames on the candles "get blown out".

I don't use my Nestability dies as often as I should.  I used them to create the circles that you see on this card.  The card came together so quickly that I realized I should be using those dies more often.

That's all I have for tonight.  I am heading to bed.  Will hopefully stop by again tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Gayle

Hi Everyone!

I cannot believe that I haven't posted in over a month.  It was a long and busy month.  I am back today to share a card that I made last night for my friend Gayle.  Today is Gayle's birthday.

The inspiration for her card came from a combination of cards on Pinterest and some Hero Arts bird stamps that are displayed in front of me.  I didn't use those stamps, but instead pulled out some of my circle and heart punches and played with them.  I also pulled some party hats out of my birthday embellishments clear container and got to work.

I started out by arranging the circles and hats onto a piece of 4" x 5.25" white tag.  I didn't attach them to the card at that time.  When I was satisfied with the arrangement I stamped the sentiment and embossed it.  Next I added legs to the circles.  Then I ran the tag through a Sizzix birthday embossing folder and attached it to a blank red card.

Then I glued the circles to the tag and attached the hat stickers.  I cut punched out hearts in half to create a wing for each bird.  I added some wiggly eyes and used tiny scraps to create beaks.

Here's the card.

Happy birthday Gayle!

Have a great day!
