Birthday cards

Hi Everyone!

I am excited.  After months of ignoring my papercrafting I am doing a much better job of finding and making the time to create each day.  For years now I have had a stash of cards, gift bags, and gift tags sitting here for me to grab whenever I needed a hostess gift, birthday gift, etc.  I have completely wiped out that stash and am trying to build it up again. 

Birthday cards.  I always need a birthday card for someone.  I grabbed a 12" x 12" piece of Momenta birthday paper and cut it into six 4" x 5.25" pieces.  First I created this card.

The paper pieced cupcake was created with a cling stamp from Hero Arts.  The frosting is adhered to the card with foam tape.  The sentiment was created with a Lockhart stamp.  There are Glossy Accents on the largest heart.

I picked up multiple packages of birthday sticker buttons at Marshalls one day and put them in my birthday theme box.  I used some of them on my cards along with some accent pieces from October Afternoon. 

 

As you can see the cards are similar in format, but I finally realized something like that doesn't matter.  It's not as if one friend is going to call another and discover they have received similar cards from me!

 

Still have 2 more cards to make with the paper I cut, but that's for another day.

Valentine Cards 2013

Hi Everyone!

I have a couple of valentines to share with you today. 

I found the flowers and ribbon in my stash and thought they'd make a nice card.  That "love you a bunch" stamp is one of my favorites. 

 

 

I made this card for a friend of mine whose baby is celebrating her first Valentine's Day. I paper pieced the onesie and added some alphabet beads to use as buttons to spell out Amelia's name.  Inside the card I stamped a Lawn Fawn bunny along with the sentiments "Some bunny loves you" and "Happy First Valentine's Day".

Valentines 2013

Hi Everyone!

Well, I have been achieving the goal that I set for myself.  I want to create something papercrafted each day and I have done that for the past 4 days.   Today I have more valentines to share with you.

This valentine is going to be for Marie.  I used the PaperTrey Ink friendship jar stamp to create the jar.  I fussy cut the jar and the lid.  I used foam tape to adhere the lid to the jar.  The text was created with a Lockhart stamp.  The foam hearts are stickers that were in my stash. 

I created this card for one of my friends.  The conversation hearts were created with some Hero Arts clear stamps.  I added some Glossy Accents to them. 

 

I used a mini set of clear stamps from Lawn Fawn to create this card.  I used foam tape to attach the fussy cut bee to the card. 



I hope that at least some of my cards are inspiring you to create some valentines of your own.

Valentine Decor

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to create something "valentine" to hang on my wall.  Here's what I made!

I am thrilled with the way it turned out and it was so easy to make.  I used my heart paper punches to punch 9 scalloped and 9 plain hearts.  I paper pierced the scalloped hearts to make them look lacy. 

I started out with a 12" x 12" sheet of rose tag.  I made a 1/2" score along all 4 sides to help me center the 11" x 11" sheet of pink tag on top of the rose tag. 

Then I made a 1/2" score on all 4 sides of the pink tag to help me center the 10" x 10" sheet of heart patterned paper. 

Next I made a 1.5" score on all 4 sides of the heart patterned paper to help me center the 7" sheet of rose tag. 

I made another 1/2 " score on all 4 sides of the rose tag to help me center the 6" x 6" sheet of pink tag. 

Before I added the pink tag to my creation I scored it at every 2 inches going across and down.  I ran some white baby ric rac through my Xyron X machine to make it sticky and then adhered it to the scored lines I had made.  I added a scallop heart to each of the squares I had created and then adhered a plain heart on top of each scalloped heart. 

That was it.  I was done.  I love the soft colors and how easy it was to create this wall decor.  I am thinking of creating something similar for Easter this year.

More Valentines 2013

Hi Everyone!

I have had such a productive papercrafting weekend. I finished 20 valentines for my family and some of my friends. I also created 18 cards for my preschoolers at school. I simply added some doilies, paper punched hearts from my stash and tiny Martha Stewart bows to some premade pink and blue A2 cards.


Meanwhile, as promised I have more valentines to share with you today.

I found puffy hearts in the dollar section of JoAnn Fabrics last year. I picked up a couple of packages of them and added them to my stash. I die cut some clouds, paper pierced them and adhered them to the layering paper. I paper punched a few red hearts to use on the kite's tail and added a strip of Washi tape to the bottom of the card. The text was created with a stamp from Savvy Stamps.

A blog post from Kristina Werner was the inspiration for this card. I used a variety of my heart paper punches to cut out the hearts. The sentiment was stamped with a Stampendous wooden stamp.

 

 

 

My sister, Jeanne, bought a new vacuum cleaner the other day. When I was organizing my stamps I came across a set from Paper Smooches that has a vacuum cleaner in it so I decided to use it on a valentine for her. You cannot tell from the picture but I paper pieced the vacuum's motor and bag and added them to the layering paper with foam tape. I am not especially comfortable with the white space between the text and the hearts that are sprinkled near the vacuum cleaner, but cannot figure out what to add to the card. Any suggestions? (Bummer. I just realized if I had one of the sofa or chair stamps that I am always admiring I could fit that into the picture!)

Valentine Cards 2013

Hi Everyone!

It's been a long time!  I love being back in the classroom, but school work consumes most of my time.  Schools were closed yesterday due to a snowstorm that finally ended about an hour or so ago.  I did a little cleaning, made a pot of soup, did a little school work and then chose to spend some time creating valentines.  As I sat here working I realized how much I truly miss not creating at least one card a day.  Since I have pretty much wiped out my stash of cards, I need to and want to make more of an effort to find some time to create something each day. 

I surfed the Internet and visited some of my favorite blogs for inspiration and then got to work creating valentines for my family and a few friends.  I plan to share some of them with you each day until Thursday. 

Everything I needed for this card was sitting in a box of leftovers from last year.  Since the hearts are all stickers this card was a quick and easy one to create.

 

 



This card took a little longer to create, but I am pleased with the way it turned out.  I cut scraps of valentine paper into one inch squares and adhered them to a retangular piece of red tag.  The text was created with a Lockhart sentiment stamp.  I LOVE my Lockhart stamps!

 

I love the simplicity of this card.  The crock was created with a stamp from A Country Welcome.  The heart stems were created with a stamp from Impression Obsession.  The sentiment was stamped with an A Muse Artstamp.

The Stocking is hung...

Hi Everyone! 

It was such a crazy week.  Attended an all day training on Monday, a 2 hour staff meeting on Tuesday night, and a 2 hour First Aid class on Thursday night. In between all of that I taught preschoolers and did the usual day to day stuff. 

There are 17 days left until Christmas.  I have gifts to buy and wrap, cards to make and send, cookies to bake and deliver, a tree to buy and decorate..the list is too long.  By now we usually have more than 500 cookies in our freezer, but there are only about 100. The oven temperature was fluctuating so we waited until the repairman came before we continued to bake.  It was fixed on Friday and now we can get back to cookie baking.  Tomorrow. 

Worked on school stuff off and on today.  My kids LOVE to sing so I made some song props for them and worked on my lesson plans for this coming week.

Wasn't in a card making mood today.  Or a baking one either.  But I have a couple of cards to share with you.

I like the way this one turned out. I might like it even more if I had embossed the layering paper.  Too late for that now!  I die cut a stocking twice-once in red, and once in green.  Then I cut the toe, heel, and cuff off of the green stocking and glued the rest of it onto the red stocking.  Used foam tape to adhere it to the layering paper.  Added a braided thin gold ribbon to the paper along with some holly stickers.  Added some ribbon to the paper too before I attached it to a blank card.  The candy cane is a foam sticker that was in my stash. 

 

 

Bet you can guess what kind of gift card is enclosed in this card.  It was pretty easy to fussy cut the cups.  The stamps were from a mini set from PaperTrey Ink at this link.  The sentiment is a rub-on.

 



This was an easy one too.  The layering paper is from Lawn Fawn.  Paper punched a white circle and stamped Santa's sleigh on it.  Added the text rub-on and the card was done!  Doesn't get much easier than that.
